In 1977, the campus instituted the Leadership Recognition Program for Outstanding Graduating Seniors to acknowledge their contributions to the University and its quality of student life, and to encourage their continued interest in the Davis campus. This recognition consists of a reception that I co-host with the Cal Aggie Alumni Association (CAAA), and the presentation of a small memento. This occasion also provides University administrators, faculty, and staff with an opportunity to express appreciation for our students’ valuable contributions to the campus and the Davis community during their undergraduate tenure.
I write to ask your assistance in identifying undergraduate students appropriate for this recognition, according to one or more of the following criteria:
1. Demonstrated outstanding leadership through participation in campus activities
2. Significant contributions to the quality of campus life through participation in campus administrative/academic activities
3. Community activities
Please include the full name and student identification number (if available) of all graduating seniors you feel meet these criteria on the nomination form. All identified students will have their status checked for confirmation of their senior (graduating) status. The University reserves the right not to recognize a nominated student if the student is not in good academic or disciplinary standing or has not filed for graduation.
IMPORTANT! YOUR NOMINATED STUDENT(S) WILL BE RECOGNIZED ONLY IF YOU SHARE WITH THE STUDENT THE FACT THAT YOU HAVE SUBMITTED HIS/HER NAME FOR THIS RECOGNITION, AND WHY YOU HAVE DONE SO. Your assistance in doing so provides meaningful feedback to our students and makes these awards all the more significant to them.
Let me also emphasize that your nominations for this recognition must be received by the Office of the Vice Chancellor—Student Affairs, 476 Mrak Hall, no later than March 7, 2008.Thank you for your assistance. Please call Student Affairs (530-752-2416) if you have any questions regarding this request.
